Squarespace website design and build

We design and build Squarespace websites for experts, studios and small brands: a clear structure, a careful build from a visual brief, SEO basics and training so you can run the site yourself afterwards. Squarespace is a smart choice when you need a beautiful site without technical upkeep and no complex logic.

When to choose Squarespace

  • You are an expert, studio or small brand and the site is your showcase and portfolio
  • You want to change copy and photos yourself without a developer
  • You’d rather not think about hosting, updates and security
  • You need a built-in blog, forms, a simple shop or appointment booking
  • Neat typography and photography matter more than unusual features

When another platform fits better

  • You need deep integrations with a CRM, ERP or specific shipping and payment providers
  • You plan a large catalogue or complex discounts — Shopify or WooCommerce fit better
  • Your design won’t fit template logic — Webflow is more flexible
  • You need server-side logic, user accounts or custom calculations

What Squarespace is

Squarespace is an all-in-one website builder: templates, hosting, domain, SSL, blog, forms, a simple store and appointment scheduling under one subscription. The site is assembled from sections and blocks in a visual editor, so the owner sees the result immediately and can change it alone. It is the opposite of WordPress: less freedom, but almost no technical worries.

Strengths

  • Designer templates with good typography and grids — the site looks polished even without a designer.
  • No maintenance: updates, security and redundancy are the platform’s job.
  • Built-in tools for blogging, email campaigns, a simple shop and online booking.
  • SEO basics out of the box: meta tags, sitemap, responsive layouts, SSL.

Limitations

  • Flexibility within templates. Custom CSS and code injection exist, but unusual designs or logic are hard to achieve.
  • Few integrations. There is no large plugin ecosystem, so connecting a CRM, ERP or niche services usually needs workarounds.
  • Limited export. Some content can be exported, but moving off Squarespace usually takes manual work or scripts.
  • Plans differ: some features, such as code injection or selling, are not available on every plan.

Why hire someone if Squarespace is easy?

Anyone can build a page in Squarespace. Building a site that brings in clients is a different job: a structure that matches what people search for, copy that leads to an enquiry, proper headings and meta tags, fast images. That is where we help.

For a nutrition brand we started with a visual brief: what each page should look like and in what order a visitor gets the information. Then we designed the structure and built the site in Squarespace. Content updates are automated with our own MCP tool: an AI agent takes a written request and adds pages, sections and blog posts through the Squarespace editor. The owner doesn’t wait for a developer for every new piece of copy, and we don’t spend hours on routine copy-paste.

When a site outgrows Squarespace, the natural next steps are Webflow for design and content or WordPress for flexibility and integrations.

What to prepare before we start

  • A Squarespace account in your name. We work in it as a contributor with editing rights, so the site and billing always stay yours.
  • Copy about your services and prices — even a draft. If you have none, we help with structure and wording.
  • Photos and a logo in the best quality you have: a Squarespace site lives on its visuals.
  • Two or three sites you like and what exactly you like about them.
  • Your domain and access to it, if it was bought elsewhere.

Migrating to and from Squarespace

To Squarespace it makes sense to move from an old site that needs constant technical care, when the business has no need for complex features. We move copy and images, recreate the page structure and set up 301 redirects from old URLs so you keep your Google rankings.

Away from Squarespace sites move when integrations are missing, the shop has grown or the design hits template limits. Because export is limited, we plan such moves up front: an inventory of pages, a URL map, and scripted content transfer wherever possible. Where to go depends on the goal — Webflow, WordPress or Shopify for a store.

What to check before and after the move so you keep your Google traffic is in our site migration checklist for keeping your rankings.

FAQ

FAQ

How much does a Squarespace website cost?

A single page starts at €500 and a multi-page site at €1,200. The Squarespace subscription is paid to the platform separately.

Why pay a developer when Squarespace is a builder?

You are not paying for dragging blocks. You pay for the structure, copy and SEO setup that turn a site into a source of enquiries — and for the hours you won’t spend learning the editor.

Can I edit the site myself afterwards?

Yes, that is Squarespace’s main advantage. After launch we show you how to change copy and photos and publish posts.

Is Squarespace good for SEO?

For an expert or studio site, yes: meta tags, sitemap and responsive layouts come built in. For hundreds of search-focused pages, WordPress is more flexible.

Can I take payments and bookings?

Yes, Squarespace has a simple store and online scheduling on the relevant plans. For complex shipping or payment setups we recommend other platforms.

Whose name is the site registered in?

Yours. The Squarespace account and billing belong to you, and we work in it as a contributor with editing rights. When the work is done, our access can simply be removed.
