Autopilot Posts — an editorial assistant for a news site

The task

A regional news outlet monitored dozens of websites by hand every day: find a story, copy it, strip the ads, upload photos, credit the source. Hours of editor time.

What the plugin does

• watches any number of sources — RSS or HTML pages via XPath, each with its own category and frequency;
• lets through only relevant topics based on keywords the newsroom configures;
• strips scripts, ads and boilerplate and never adds the same story twice;
• rewrites text with a built-in synonym dictionary or, optionally, with AI (OpenAI or Anthropic);
• uploads images to the media library with a source credit and turns photo reports into a slider;
• creates every post as a draft — the final decision always stays with the editor;
• a dedicated “Autopilot” tab among posts, an event log and a manual run button.
